While a glittering winter landscape drifts past outside, enjoy comfort and fine cuisine aboard one of the world’s most famous trains. Combined with unforgettable alpine scenery, this journey takes you to Zermatt at the foot of the Matterhorn and into the elegant winter landscapes of the Engadin.

ITINERARY

Day 1: 15 February 2027 / Journey to the Valais region

Departure takes place at 6:00 a.m. from Luxembourg at P+R Bouillon towards Täsch, including breakfast and lunch.

Day 2: 16 February 2027 / Zermatt – Matterhorn panorama

A train journey takes you from Täsch to the car-free mountain village of Zermatt, spectacularly located beneath the Matterhorn. Those wishing to can choose an ascent with the Gornergrat cogwheel railway or the cable car to Matterhorn Glacier Paradise. The ride to the Gornergrat in particular offers magnificent views of surrounding four-thousand-metre peaks and glacier landscapes. At over 3,000 metres above sea level, the panoramic platform reveals breathtaking alpine scenery. Back in the village, there is time for a stroll or a visit to the Matterhorn Museum, which vividly presents the history of life in the high mountains.

Day 3: 17 February 2027 / Glacier Express

Today you experience one of the highlights of the journey: a ride aboard the legendary Glacier Express. From Täsch, the route first travels through the wintery Rhône Valley via Visp and Brig. The train then passes through the 15-kilometre-long Furka Base Tunnel and reaches the Urseren Valley. In wide curves, the railway climbs up to the 2,033-metre-high Oberalp Pass. While snow-covered peaks and frozen streams glide by outside, you enjoy a delicious lunch in the panoramic carriage. After crossing the pass, the journey descends alongside the Rhine through the spectacular Rhine Gorge towards Chur. There, your coach driver awaits to continue the journey to Sils Maria in the Upper Engadin.

Day 4: 18 February 2027 / Horse-drawn carriage ride into the Fex Valley – Leisure time in Sils

In the morning, enjoy a romantic horse-drawn carriage ride through the snow-covered Fex Valley. After returning, there is free time to explore Sils Maria at your own pace. A walk along the frozen lakes of the Upper Engadin or through the charming village offers the perfect opportunity to enjoy the crisp mountain air and the unique atmosphere of the region.

Day 5: 19 February 2027 / Coffee roastery – Bernina Pass – Muottas Muragl

The day begins with a visit to a coffee roastery, including a tasting session. Afterwards, you travel to Pontresina. From here, the road climbs to the Bernina Pass at an altitude of 2,330 metres. The route passes through wide alpine valleys and offers impressive views of the snow-covered mountain world. Back in the valley, you reach the valley station of the Muottas Muragl funicular railway. The ascent leads to one of the most beautiful viewpoints in the Engadin. Those who wish may walk the so-called “Philosopher’s Path”, an approximately one-hour panoramic trail with magnificent views.

Day 6: 20 February 2027 / Return journey

After breakfast, you begin the return journey to Luxembourg, including lunch.
