TRAVEL ITINERARY
Day 1: 26 December 2026 / Arrival In the morning, you fly from Luxembourg to Funchal. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel.
Day 2: 27 December 2026 / Funchal – Botanical Garden Your discovery of Madeira begins in the old town of Funchal. Accompanied by a local guide, you explore historic streets, the Sé Cathedral and the famous Mercado dos Lavradores with its colourful selection of regional specialities. Afterwards, you take the cable car up to the Botanical Garden. From here, you enjoy panoramic views over the Bay of Funchal while discovering plant species from different climate zones around the world.
Day 3: 28 December 2026 / Santana – Rum Distillery – Ponta de São Lourenço A scenic drive through rural villages takes you to the lush northeast coast of the island. In Santana, you visit the island’s famous traditional thatched houses. In the afternoon, you discover a working rum distillery and learn about Madeira’s historic sugar cane production, which has shaped the island for generations. Afterwards, you enjoy a walk on the Ponta de São Lourenço peninsula, where the barren volcanic landscape creates a striking contrast to Madeira’s otherwise lush vegetation.
Day 4: 29 December 2026 / Banana Plantations – Porto Moniz – Poncha Tasting Travelling along Madeira’s picturesque southern coast, you pass charming villages such as Ribeira Brava and Calheta. During an easy walk through banana plantations, you learn more about the cultivation of one of Madeira’s most iconic products. The journey continues to Porto Moniz in the northwest, where the famous natural lava pools beautifully illustrate the close relationship between land and sea. On the return journey, you stop in Câmara de Lobos to taste the traditional local drink Poncha.
Day 5: 30 December 2026 / Traditional Winery – Leisure Time In the morning, you visit a family-run winery in São Vicente. During a guided tour through the vineyards and production facilities, you learn about the unique volcanic soil before tasting selected regional wines. The afternoon is free for your own discoveries.
Optional: boat excursion along the southern coast with frequent dolphin and whale sightings: €119.00 p.p. (minimum 15 participants).
Day 6: 31 December 2026 / New Year’s Gala Dinner Until the evening, you may spend the day as you wish. Afterwards, a transfer takes you to an elegant venue overlooking Funchal’s marina. Enjoy an exclusive gala dinner accompanied by selected wines. Shortly before midnight, you step onto the rooftop terrace to admire the spectacular fireworks display over Funchal, famous around the world. Music and unlimited drinks create the perfect atmosphere to welcome the New Year. After the celebration, return transfer to the hotel.
Day 7: 01 January 2027 / New Year’s Day Start the new year at your own pace. Whether enjoying a peaceful walk along the promenade or relaxing at the hotel, today is entirely yours to enjoy.
Day 8: 02 January 2027 / Return Journey After the transfer to the airport, you take your return flight back to Luxembourg.
