TRAVEL ITINERARY
Day 1: 14 May 2027 / Arrival Your journey begins with a midday flight from Luxembourg to Pescara. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel. The remainder of the afternoon is at leisure.
Day 2: 15 May 2027 / Civitella del Tronto – Atri – Regional Flavours After breakfast, you travel to Civitella del Tronto, overlooked by one of the largest fortresses in Europe. From its walls, you enjoy stunning views across the rolling hills of Abruzzo. Afterwards, you visit a local wine estate and taste one of the region’s renowned DOC wines. In the afternoon, the route continues through the dramatic Calanchi landscapes towards Atri. The day concludes with a tasting of traditional liquorice in a historic bottega.
Day 3: 16 May 2027 / L’Aquila – Gran Sasso – Santo Stefano di Sessanio Today begins with a guided visit of L’Aquila. Afterwards, a panoramic drive takes you through the Gran Sasso National Park with its spectacular mountain scenery. One of the highlights of the day is the medieval village of Santo Stefano di Sessanio. A rustic picnic featuring regional specialities completes the experience before visiting the Benedictine Abbey of Bominaco.
Day 4: 17 May 2027 / Leisure Day Today is entirely at your leisure. Relax on the beach, soak up the sun or explore Alba Adriatica at your own pace.
Day 5: 18 May 2027 / Lanciano – Costa dei Trabocchi You travel to Lanciano, one of the region’s most historically and artistically important towns, known for its charming old town and impressive religious buildings. Around lunchtime, you visit a traditional trabocco, the iconic wooden fishing platforms of the Adriatic coast, where you enjoy a tasting of regional specialities. In the afternoon, you visit the Abbey of San Giovanni in Venere before continuing along the breathtaking Costa dei Trabocchi coastline.
Day 6: 19 May 2027 / San Clemente Abbey – Sulmona – Scanno The day begins with a visit to the Romanesque Abbey of San Clemente a Casauria. You then continue to Sulmona, famous for its traditional sugared almond production, where you discover the artisanal process and taste the renowned Confetti sweets. Travelling through the dramatic Sagittario Gorges, you reach the idyllic Lake Scanno. After a light lunch featuring regional delicacies, you explore the beautifully preserved old town of Scanno and visit a traditional goldsmith workshop.
Day 7: 20 May 2027 / Ascoli Piceno – Offida In the morning, you travel to Ascoli Piceno, renowned for its Roman remains and elegant medieval buildings made from pale travertine stone. On Piazza del Popolo, you enjoy a coffee break at the historic Caffè Meletti while tasting the famous Olive all’Ascolana. In the afternoon, you continue to Offida with its well-preserved town walls, castle and the impressive Abbey of Santa Maria della Rocca.
Day 8: 21 May 2027 / Return Journey You still have some free time in the morning before your transfer to the airport and return flight to Luxembourg.
