ITINERARY
Day 1: September 15, 2026 / Arrival in Varna (D) Flight to Varna. Welcome at the airport by your guide. Evening arrival.
Day 2: September 16, 2026 / Varna (B) Guided tour: Archaeological Museum with the oldest processed gold in the world, then Roman Baths, among Europe’s largest. Evening welcome dinner.
Day 3: September 17, 2026 / Cape Kaliakra – Balchik (B, D) Coastal drive to Cape Kaliakra with its ruins and legends. Continue to Balchik: visit the summer residence of Queen Maria and the botanical garden. Return to Varna.
Day 4: September 18, 2026 / Shumen – Madara – Veliko Tarnovo (B, D) Morning in Shumen: medieval fortress, Tombul Mosque, monument of Bulgarian state founders. Traditional Bulgarian lunch. Visit UNESCO site “The Madara Rider.” Evening arrival in Veliko Tarnovo, former capital.
Day 5: September 19, 2026 / Veliko Tarnovo – Arbanassi – Sofia (B, D) Veliko Tarnovo tour: Zarewez hill, fortress, Patriarchal Church, Emperor Baldwin Tower, Samovodska Charshiya. Then Arbanassi, known for churches and historic architecture. Continue to Sofia and hotel check-in.
Day 6: September 20, 2026 / Sofia (B) In-depth tour of Sofia: Forum of Serdica, Religious Tolerance Square (church, synagogue, mosque, cathedral), National Theatre, Royal Palace, and more. Afternoon at leisure.

Day 7: September 21, 2026 / Rila Monastery – Bansko (B, L, D) Mountain excursion to the UNESCO-listed Rila Monastery with frescoes, icons, and carved wooden cross. Lunch featuring fresh trout. Wine tasting of regional wines. Continue to Bansko at the foot of the Pirin Mountains.
Day 8: September 22, 2026 / Plovdiv (B, D) Scenic drive through the Rhodope Mountains to Plovdiv, Europe’s oldest continuously inhabited city. Old town tour: Renaissance houses, Roman theatre, walls, churches, mosques, and Roman stadium.
Day 9: September 23, 2026 / Stara Zagora – Nessebar – Burgas (B, L) Visit Stara Zagora: ancient forum and Roman traces. Continue to Nessebar, a peninsula with over 40 churches and charming streets. Lunch overlooking the sea. Evening arrival in Burgas.
Day 10: September 24, 2026 / Burgas (B, D) Explore Burgas: Sea Garden, old town, Opera, Historical Museum with Thracian jewelry. Afternoon at leisure. Farewell dinner in the evening.
Day 11: September 25, 2026 / Return (B) Transfer to the airport and flight back to Luxembourg.
