Itinerary
Day 1: August 26, 2024 / Arrival
Departure at 5:00 am from Luxembourg at P+R Bouillon towards La Rochelle, including breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Day 2: August 27, 2024 / La Rochelle - Fort Boyard
In the morning, take part in a guided tour of La Rochelle. This historic coastal town has been a fishing and trading center since the 12th century. In the afternoon, take a boat to “Fort Boyard” (admission not included), a well-known fortress off the Atlantic coast.
Day 3: August 28, 2024 / Cruise to Meschers - Brouage
After breakfast, off to Royan for a cruise to Meschers-sur-Gironde. During this trip along the steep cliffs, you will admire the “Grottes de Régulus” and the charming village of Talmont-sur-Gironde with its famous Ste-Radegonde church perched on a cliff at the water's edge. In the afternoon, visit the citadel of Brouage.
Day 4: August 29, 2024 / Ile d'Oléron
Day trip to the sunny and picturesque Ile d'Oléron. In the morning, with a local guide, explore the “Citadelle du Château-d'Oléron” and the fishing port of “La Cotinière”. In the afternoon, visit the “Port des Salines”.
Day 5: August 30, 2024 / Saint-Martin-de-Ré
Morning at leisure. Stroll around La Rochelle or visit the market. In the late afternoon, head for nearby Saint-Martin-de-Ré. Enjoy the afternoon in this charming little town at your leisure.
Day 6: August 31, 2024 / Rochefort & Corderie Royale
After breakfast, visit Rochefort by charming “tourist train”. The town has a rich maritime history. You will also visit the “Corderie Royale”, a rope factory built in the 17th century. In the afternoon, you can visit the Porte du Soleil near the Musée National de la Marine and admire the replica of the famous frigate Hermione. Finally, a pleasant stroll through the “Jardin des Retours” along the Charente river is recommended.
Day 7: September 01, 2024 / Return
You begin your return journey to Luxembourg, with lunch included.
