Valencia is more than a city in Spain – Valencia is a way of life! And it’s the perfect place for this special journey that combines art & culture, experience & creation, inspiration & enjoyment. You will explore both historical and modern Valencia, stroll through the charming old town, discover old and new artworks, visit contemporary museums and historic buildings, and let yourself be enchanted and inspired. In the “City of Arts and Sciences,” admire the spectacular works of Santiago Calatrava; in the peaceful Albufera Natural Park, enjoy a boat ride; in a village, savor a traditional paella. Free time allows for personal exploration or relaxing by the sea.

During six afternoon painting workshops, you will follow your creative impulses, guided by art instructor Margit Heuser. Motivated by cheerful guidance and structured exercises, you can fully express your creativity, improve your artistic skills, and create unique artworks.

Travel Itinerary

Day 1: To the South

• Flight Luxembourg–Valencia

Day 2: Historic Valencia, afternoon painting workshop “Warm Painting & Arrival”

• Walk through the old town
• Visit St. Nicholas Church
• Visit La Lonja
• Stroll through the central market hall
• Afternoon painting workshop with Margit Heuser (2 hours; exercises: hand & eye loosening, quick sketches & color experiments, starting without fear—even without drawing experience, developing first motifs from shapes & areas)
• Free time
• Walk along the harbor
• Dinner at a local restaurant

Day 3: City of Arts and Sciences, afternoon painting workshop “Urban Sketching Light”

• Visit the “Ciutat de les Arts i les Ciències”
• Visit L’Umbracle and Ágora (Santiago Calatrava)
• Afternoon painting workshop (2 hours; exercises: learning to see what is really important, simple perspectives without ruler stress, people, houses, cafés—reduced & lively, color as mood, not obligation)

Day 4: Free time, afternoon painting workshop “Color & Mood”

• Morning free
• Afternoon painting workshop (4 hours; exercises: mixing colors inspired by the south, light-dark effects explained simply, creating depth without complex technique, courage to make personal color choices)

Day 5: Albufera Natural Park & Valencian Paella

• Excursion to Albufera Natural Park
• Boat ride on the lagoon
• Insights into rice cultivation
• Paella lunch in a village
• Late afternoon free

Day 6: Free time, afternoon painting workshop “Your Valencia Painting”

• Morning free
• Afternoon painting workshop (4 hours; exercises: individual guidance instead of frontal teaching, easy composition, staying on track & finishing (or intentionally leaving open), trust in your own expression)

Day 7: Modern & Modernismo in Eixample, afternoon painting workshop “Relaxed Finish & Mini-Series”

• Walk through the Eixample district
• Visit Mercado de Colón
• Visit the National Ceramics Museum and CAHH (private art collection)
• Optional visit to another museum
• Free time

• Afternoon painting workshop (2 hours; exercises: quick sketches & small color notes, mini-series or travel journal ideas, reflection: What did I discover? Inspiration to continue painting at home)

Day 8: Free day, evening return flight to Luxembourg

• Free day
• Transfer to the airport
• Flight Valencia–Luxembourg
