ITINERARY

Day 1: April 2, 2026 / Departure
Transfer from Luxembourg to Paris. From there, board your flight to Saint-Denis de La Réunion. You will spend the night on the plane.

Day 2: April 3, 2026 / Arrival – Hell-Bourg
You arrive in the morning on the island of La Réunion. Travel through the lush Cirque de Salazie and admire stunning waterfalls along the way. In the picturesque village of Hell-Bourg, visit the historic Folio House. After a traditional lunch, continue to the west coast and check in at your hotel.

Day 3: April 4, 2026 / Piton Maïdo – Hike – Villèle Historical Museum / Hiking distance: 12.0 km
Drive to the summit of Piton Maïdo to enjoy the spectacular view over the Cirque de Mafate. Then hike the "La Glacière" loop trail. After a picnic lunch, visit a geranium distillery and the historical Villèle Museum.

Day 4: April 5, 2026 / Circular Hike in Cayenne – Free Time / Hiking distance: 12.2 km
A 4x4 vehicle takes you into the remote Cirque de Mafate. From there, hike across the Bras d’Oussy river to the Îlet de Cayenne plateau, once a refuge for escaped slaves. Return to the hotel in the afternoon.

Day 5: April 6, 2026 / Magical West Coast – Cilaos – La Roche Merveilleuse / Hiking distance: 2.0 km
Optional: Helicopter flight over the island from Plateau-Caillou (recommended departure at 7:00 or 8:00 a.m.)
Drive along the island’s west coast, stopping at natural wonders such as the “Souffleur” geyser and the black cliffs of L’Étang-Salé. Then take the spectacular “Road of 400 Curves” to the Cirque de Cilaos. After a stroll through the charming village, enjoy a short walk through a shady forest to the panoramic viewpoint of La Roche Merveilleuse.

Day 6: April 7, 2026 / Chapels Trail – L’Entre-Deux / Hiking distance: 8.6 km
Today you’ll hike the Chapels Trail, which leads to the entrance of an impressive canyon. After a picnic lunch, head south to the picturesque village of L’Entre-Deux with its beautiful Creole houses. Check in at your new hotel.

Day 7: April 8, 2026 / Grand Anse & Rum Tour
Hike to the viewpoint at Piton de Grande Anse for sweeping views of the wild beach below. After a relaxing lunch, visit the rum museum located in the island’s oldest distillery – tasting included.

Day 8: April 9, 2026 / Piton de la Fournaise Volcano – Plaine des Sables – Palais du Fromage / Hiking distance: 12.4 km
Early morning departure to the active volcano Piton de la Fournaise. Stop at breathtaking viewpoints and cross the lunar landscape of the Plaine des Sables. A short hike leads to the stunning Dolomieu crater. After a Creole-style lunch, visit the interactive volcano museum “Cité du Volcan.” On your way back, stop at the “Palais du Fromage” to sample local cheeses.

Day 9: April 10, 2026 / Wild South & East – Return Flight to Paris
Explore the wild landscapes of the island’s south and east, passing dramatic cliffs, the breathtaking Cap Méchant, and the famous lava road. A special highlight awaits at the “Parfums et Épices” Botanical Garden, where you’ll enjoy a guided tour of its colorful flora. In the afternoon, visit the traditional vanilla plantation in Sainte-Suzanne and learn all about the cultivation and processing of the precious pods. In the evening, return flight to Paris.

Day 10: April 11, 2026 / Return Home
Early morning transfer back to Luxembourg.
