Between vibrant seas of flowers, medieval alleyways and mysterious pile dwellings, Lake Constance reveals its full diversity. Stroll through the romantic old town of Meersburg, let yourself be enchanted by the island of Mainau and discover the picturesque town of Schaffhausen. A journey full of impressions that will stay with you.

ITINERARY

Day 1: 10 May 2026 / Journey
Early morning departure from Luxembourg (P+R Bouillon) towards Lake Constance, including breakfast and lunch. In the late afternoon, arrival in Meersburg, beautifully situated on the lakeshore and known for its historic atmosphere.

Day 2: 11 May 2026 / Island of Mainau
A boat trip takes you to the famous island of Mainau, which enchants visitors from all over the world every year with its floral splendour. More than one million tulips, magnificent roses and exotic plants create a colourful natural spectacle. In the afternoon, the boat returns you to Meersburg.

Day 3: 12 May 2026 / Überlingen – Birnau Baroque Church – Pile Dwellings
The former garden and spa town of Überlingen welcomes you with charming streets and a history spanning over 1,250 years. Afterwards, continue to the magnificent Baroque church of Birnau, which towers visibly above the lake. The journey then leads to Mühlhofen, where you discover the Stone Age pile dwellings – Germany’s oldest open-air museum, documenting life around Lake Constance since 1922.

Day 4: 13 May 2026 / Rhine Falls – Schaffhausen
After breakfast, excursion to Schaffhausen. First, visit the impressive Rhine Falls, the largest waterfall in Europe. With a width of 150 metres and a drop of 23 metres, it offers a breathtaking natural spectacle. Afterwards, explore the charming old town of Schaffhausen. While strolling through the car-free city centre, admire ornate bay windows, painted façades and lovingly restored townhouses. Highlights include the “Haus zum Ritter” with its frescoes and the lively Herrenacker, the city’s largest square. There is also the opportunity to visit the Munot Fortress. This imposing 16th-century structure sits high above the town and offers wonderful panoramic views over Schaffhausen and the Rhine.

Day 5: 14 May 2026 / Return journey via Gutach
Return to Luxembourg, including lunch.
