ITINERARY
Day 1: 17 August 2026 / Arrival Departure at 6:00 a.m. from Luxembourg (P+R Bouillon) towards Zermatt, including breakfast and lunch. Arrival in the Swiss Alps in the afternoon.
Days 2 & 3: 18 & 19 August 2026 / Zermatt Spend the next two days in Zermatt, one of Switzerland’s most famous resorts and globally renowned as the starting point for the Matterhorn. Enjoy leisurely walks in the crisp Alpine air and marvel at the unique mountain scenery. The car-free village invites you to stroll through its many shops and charming streets. Those seeking greater heights can take the train or cable car to Riffelalp, Rothorn, Klein Matterhorn, or the Matterhorn Glacier Paradise. A visit to the Matterhorn Museum – Zermatlantis is also worthwhile to learn about the village’s history and mountaineering tradition.
Day 4: 20 August 2026 / Glacier Express Today, experience one of the world’s most beautiful train journeys: the Glacier Express from Zermatt across the Swiss mountains. The panoramic route crosses 291 bridges and 91 tunnels, offering spectacular views – from the Engadine highlands to the Rhine Valley and the sun-soaked Valais. While enjoying lunch in the comfortable first-class coaches, the impressive Alpine landscape passes by at a leisurely pace.
Day 5: 21 August 2026 / Chiavenna – Bernina Express Passing St. Moritz, Lake Silser, and Maloja, you first reach the charming Italian town of Chiavenna. Its historic center with winding streets and excellent cuisine invites you to linger. Afterwards, continue to Tirano, where the next highlight awaits: the Bernina Express. On this spectacular route, the train climbs the Bernina Pass in hairpin turns and over impressive bridges to over 2,300 meters before finally reaching Pontresina.
Day 6: 22 August 2026 / Carriage Ride – St. Moritz In the morning, enjoy a romantic horse-drawn carriage ride into the idyllic Fex Valley – a journey back in time. Then continue to St. Moritz, where you have free time to stroll through the chic town with its elegant boutiques and cafés.
Day 7: 23 August 2026 / Return After a final breakfast in the Swiss Alps, return to Luxembourg, including lunch.
