Day 1: Itinerary / Caves of Han - Wildlife Park - Tree Experience

Early in the morning, around 8:30 AM, you depart from Luxembourg City and head west, where a day full of natural wonders awaits. The scenic drive through the peaceful hills of the Ardennes sets the tone for your adventure.

At around 10:00 AM, you arrive in the charming village of Han-sur-Lesse, nestled along the Lesse River. Here, you board a nostalgic tram that takes you gently through the forest to the entrance of the famous cave – an experience in itself.

Inside the Caves of Han, one of Europe’s most significant cave systems, you embark on a fascinating underground journey. During the 90-minute guided tour, you’ll marvel at vast underground chambers, intricately shaped stalactites, and a mysterious subterranean river. A stunning sound-and-light show brings the rock formations to life in a truly magical display.

Back above ground, it’s time for lunch – enjoy a regional meal at Bistro Le Pavillon or relax at the picnic area.

In the afternoon, the expansive wildlife park awaits. On a 5-kilometer loop – either on foot or by safari bus – you’ll encounter native European animals in a natural environment: red deer, wolves, lynxes, wild horses, and even brown bears roam large enclosures surrounded by unspoiled nature.

The day concludes with a thrilling treetop adventure: the Tree Experience – a spectacular canopy trail featuring 280 meters of hanging bridges, lookout platforms, and breathtaking views over the forest and valley. Those who dare are rewarded with unforgettable vistas!

Around 5:30 PM, you begin your return journey to Luxembourg, with arrival scheduled around 7:00 PM – full of impressions that will linger for days to come.

The first highlight is the guided tour of the Caves of Han. A historic tram takes you to the cave entrance, where a magical world of stalactites and underground rivers awaits. A sound-and-light show in the largest chamber impressively combines nature and technology.

Alternatively, you can stay right in the park – in cozy Tree Tents or at the Cocoon Village, idyllically located by the river.

The evening is yours to enjoy: stroll through the village, dine at the hotel restaurant, or relax with a drink on the terrace.
