Highlights such as the sacred ghats of Varanasi and the intricately carved temples of Khajuraho are combined with a river cruise through the lush Ganges Delta, creating an unforgettable journey through one of the world’s most fascinating destinations.

ITINERARY

Day 1: 17 March 2027 / Departure for Delhi

Overnight flight from Frankfurt to Delhi.

Day 2: 18 March 2027 / Delhi

Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel. The remainder of the day is free to gather your first impressions of India’s vibrant capital.

Day 3: 19 March 2027 / Old and New Delhi

A comprehensive sightseeing tour introduces you to Delhi’s most important landmarks. Highlights include the Red Fort, the impressive Jama Masjid, Mahatma Gandhi Memorial, India Gate and the Presidential Palace. The day concludes with a visit to Qutub Minar, the tallest minaret in India.

Day 4: 20 March 2027 / Orchha – Khajuraho

In the morning, transfer to the railway station for a train journey to Jhansi. From there, continue to Orchha, a former royal city renowned for its magnificent palaces and temples dating back to the Bundela Rajput era. Afterwards, continue to Khajuraho.

Day 5: 21 March 2027 / The Temples of Khajuraho

Khajuraho, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is home to some of India’s most remarkable temple complexes. During your visit, you discover the famous temple groups with their exquisite carvings, sculptures and stone craftsmanship.

Day 6: 22 March 2027 / Prayagraj – Triveni Sangam Boat Cruise

A scenic drive takes you to Prayagraj. Here, you visit the historic Allahabad Fort and the former residence of the Nehru family. A boat ride at the sacred Triveni Sangam, where the Ganges and Yamuna rivers meet, completes the day.

Day 7: 23 March 2027 / Varanasi

Continue to Varanasi, one of the world’s oldest continuously inhabited cities. In Sarnath, you visit the site where Buddha delivered his first sermon. In the evening, witness the spectacular Aarti ceremony on the banks of the Ganges.

Day 8: 24 March 2027 / Varanasi – Kolkata – Beginning of the Cruise

At sunrise, enjoy a boat ride on the Ganges and observe the morning rituals taking place along the sacred ghats. Afterwards, fly to Kolkata and embark aboard the MS Ganges Voyager, where your river cruise begins.

Day 9: 25 March 2027 / Serampore – Santipur

A walking tour introduces you to Serampore, a former Danish East India Company settlement known for its historic architecture. In the afternoon, discover traditional riverside villages and banana plantations that offer insight into everyday life along the river.

Day 10: 26 March 2027 / Kalna

In Kalna, you first stroll through the lively morning market before visiting the impressive Rajbari Temple Complex, famous for its many Shiva shrines and elaborate terracotta decorations.

Day 11: 27 March 2027 / Mayapur

Today’s excursion takes you to Mayapur, one of the most important pilgrimage centres of the Krishna movement. You visit the magnificent temple of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness and experience the vibrant atmosphere of the local pilgrimage bazaar.

Day 12: 28 March 2027 / Guptipara – Fulia

In Guptipara, you discover historic temples adorned with beautifully crafted terracotta reliefs. After visiting a traditional potter’s workshop, you continue to Fulia, renowned for its handcrafted Jamdani and Jacquard textiles.

Day 13: 29 March 2027 / Bandel – Chandernagore

The day begins with a visit to the impressive Hooghly Imambara, famous for its striking clock tower. In Chandernagore, you encounter the region’s colonial heritage, shaped by centuries of French influence.

Day 14: 30 March 2027 / Kolkata

In Kolkata, you first explore the colourful flower market beneath the iconic Howrah Bridge. Afterwards, visit Kumartuli, the traditional potters’ district where artisans create intricate statues for religious festivals. A panoramic tour of the city’s colonial quarters rounds off the day.

Day 15: 31 March 2027 / Return Journey

After disembarkation, transfer to Kolkata Airport for your return flight to Frankfurt.

Day 16: 1 April 2027 / Arrival

Arrival in Frankfurt and onward transfer to Luxembourg.
