Our French-speaking tour of Jordan offers a wealth of cultural and natural treasures from different periods of world history. At the remarkably well-preserved archaeological site of Jerash, you will step back into the world of the Romans. You will discover the modern capital Amman and the peaceful port city of Aqaba. The journey takes you to biblical sites on Mount Nebo and along the Jordan River, to Jordan’s “Grand Canyon” and the medieval Crusader castle of Kerak. In Petra, you will admire the exceptional stone craftsmanship of the Nabataeans and spend a total of one and a half days exploring this unique rock-carved city. In Wadi Rum, you will be enchanted by spectacular rock formations and the magical atmosphere of the desert. A Bedouin dinner under the stars and a day at the Dead Sea, with the option of visiting the biblical baptism site, round off this varied journey.

You will stay in carefully selected 4-star accommodations in excellent locations: centrally located in Amman, within walking distance of the entrance to the ancient city of Petra and with a stylish infinity pool at the Dead Sea. In Wadi Rum, you will stay in comfortable permanent tents offering panoramic views from the bed and terrace, as well as private bathrooms.

Jordan is considered a politically stable, tolerant and safe country, making it a fascinating destination to discover.

Itinerary

Day 1: Journey to Amman

• Transfer Luxembourg-Frankfurt Airport
• Flight Frankfurt-Amman (Royal Jordanian Airlines, 15:35-21:00)
• Welcome and transfer to the hotel

Day 2: Roman Antiquity in Jerash

• Day trip to Jerash
• Visit to the archaeological site, a former Roman provincial city
• Dinner at a local restaurant
• Overnight at Hotel Toledo****

Day 3: Amman, the capital of Jordan

• Visit to King Abdullah Mosque
• Visit to the Citadel and Archaeological Museum
• Walk through the souk
• Dinner at the hotel
• Overnight at Hotel Toledo****

Day 4: Following biblical trails

• Visit to the historic mosaic map in Madaba
• Weather permitting, enjoy views of the “Promised Land” from Mount Nebo
• Drive through Wadi Mujib, Jordan’s “Grand Canyon”
• Visit to the Crusader castle of Kerak
• Dinner at the hotel
• Overnight at Petra Moon Hotel**** in Petra

Day 5: Petra & the Nabataeans

• Full-day visit to Petra, a UNESCO World Heritage Site
• Lunch with a Bedouin family
• Dinner at a local restaurant

Day 6: Further discoveries in Petra

• Visit to the Neolithic archaeological site of Beidha
• Petra: visit to the Ed-Deir Monastery, with 800 uneven steps each way
• Dinner with a local family or at the hotel

Day 7: Wadi Rum – The magic of the desert

• Journey to Wadi Rum
• Lunch at the desert camp
• Jeep tour through Wadi Rum, including sunset viewing
• Bedouin dinner at the desert camp

Day 8: Red Sea & Dead Sea

• Journey to Aqaba
• Walk through the spice souk, with the opportunity to purchase spices and souvenirs
• Continue to the Dead Sea

Day 9: At the Dead Sea, optional excursion to Bethany

• Free time at the Dead Sea
• Optional: excursion to Bethany, the baptism site and cave traditionally associated with John the Baptist

Day 10: Return from Amman

• Transfer to Amman Airport
• Flight Amman-Frankfurt (Royal Jordanian Airlines, 10:45-14:35)
