Iceland

Horse magic and natural spectacles in the land of ice and fire

Black lava beaches, steaming geysers and the graceful Icelandic horses: on this journey, you discover the full magic of the island at the edge of the Arctic Circle. Between thundering waterfalls, rugged fjords and quiet riding trails, you experience Iceland’s natural wonders up close – while also feeling the warm hospitality of its people.

ITINERARY

Day 1: 06.06.2026 / Arrival in Reykjavík
You reach Europe’s northernmost capital by plane. After checking into your hotel, you have time to explore Reykjavík’s lively atmosphere on your own and gather your first impressions of this island of ice and fire.

Day 2: 07.06.2026 / Ride along the black lava beach
A first highlight awaits: riding Icelandic horses from the small fishing village of Þorlákshöfn along the roaring waves of the Atlantic. The soft black sand, the wide Ölfusá Delta and the views of volcanoes and glaciers form the backdrop for this unforgettable experience. With a bit of luck, you may even spot seabirds in the Flói Nature Reserve.

Day 3: 08.06.2026 / Natural spectacles on the south coast
Along the south coast, natural wonders abound: the picturesque Seljalandsfoss, behind whose veil of water a hidden path leads, the powerful Skógafoss, and the black beaches and steep cliffs around Vík with their striking sea stacks.

Day 4: 09.06.2026 / The famous Golden Circle
Iceland’s best-known route combines history and nature! In Þingvellir National Park, the earth’s crust splits between the continental plates, the Strokkur geyser erupts spectacularly skywards, and the Gullfoss waterfall plunges thunderously into the depths. At the Friðheimar farm, you see how tomatoes grow in the far north using geothermal energy – complete with a delicious tomato soup tasting.

Day 5: 10.06.2026 / Visiting the Icelandic horses
At the Hestaland farm, you immerse yourself in the world of Icelandic horses. After a personal encounter with the animals and an exciting presentation, you mount up yourself. Depending on the weather, the ride leads through quiet valleys, past babbling streams, across green meadows and with views of majestic mountains.

Day 6: 11.06.2026 / The wild Snæfellsnes Peninsula
The Snæfellsnes Peninsula brings together everything that makes Iceland unique: black sand beaches, rugged cliffs, volcanic craters and the mysterious Snæfellsjökull glacier. You wander through the fishing villages of Arnarstapi and Hellnar, visit Djúpalónssandur beach and pass the photogenic Kirkjufell mountain, featured on many postcards.

Day 7: 12.06.2026 / Riding adventure in the river delta
On Icelandic horses, you ride through the untouched nature of the Héraðsvötn Delta. Sparkling waterfalls, clear streams and a fascinating variety of birds accompany this day. In the afternoon, the newly designed horse exhibition at Hólar University awaits you.

Day 8: 13.06.2026 / Whales & wellness in the north
The morning begins with a boat trip in search of whales – an unforgettable moment when the “gentle giants” surface. Afterwards, you stroll through Akureyri, the charming capital of the north, before ending the day in the warm geothermal waters of the Forest Lagoon.

Day 9: 14.06.2026 / Waterfalls & World Heritage
Via Borgarfjörður with its lava waterfalls Hraunfossar and Barnafoss, you return south. One more opportunity awaits to feel the earth’s tremendous forces at UNESCO World Heritage Site Þingvellir before Reykjavík welcomes you again.

Day 10: 15.06.2026 / Departure
After ten unforgettable days, you begin your journey home to Luxembourg.
