Provence

Riding adventure under the southern French sun

From the gentle hills of Provence to the endless beaches of the Camargue – discover the South of France on horseback. This riding tour combines unspoiled landscapes, cultural highlights and the incomparable sense of freedom that only a ride to the sea can offer. Feel the rhythm of your horse, the scent of herbs in the air, and the light that makes this region so unique.

ITINERARY

Day 1: 20 September 2026 / Arrival

You travel by TGV from Luxembourg to Aix-en-Provence and are transferred from there to the riding centre. After settling into your guest room, you enjoy a welcome aperitif at 7:30 pm, meet your fellow riders, and receive an introduction to the schedule for the coming days. Shared dinner and overnight stay at the farm.

Day 2: 21 September 2026 / Lauris – Mallemort

In the morning, you meet your horse and then set off on the first stage of your tour. The route leads through fragrant pine forests, olive groves and vineyards to the Durance River, where you enjoy a picnic on the riverbank. In the afternoon, you ride along an irrigation canal before the horses stay in the park overnight. The riders return by minibus to Lauris and spend the night there.

Day 3: 22 September 2026 / Mallemort – Eygalières

After the transfer to the horses, you ride through the orchards of the plain towards Lamanon. After a relaxing lunch break, the route leads into the Alpilles – a limestone massif whose pale rocks contrast impressively with the green of the pines. In the evening, you reach the area around Eygalières and spend the night in cosy guest rooms at the foot of the mountains.

Day 4: 23 September 2026 / Eygalières – Les Baux-de-Provence – Astouin

The day begins with about four hours on horseback, followed by a picnic at the ancient site of Glanum. The horses are then loaded. Those who wish may (optionally) visit the monastery of Saint-Paul-de-Mausole – where Vincent van Gogh spent a year of his life – and explore the picturesque village of Les Baux-de-Provence. Afterwards, you travel by minibus to the Camargue, where you spend the night in a historic hotel built on the remains of a 12th-century abbey.

Day 5: 24 September 2026 / Astouin – Bull Farm – Les Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer

Today, you ride to a traditional bull farm. There, you experience the work with Camargue bulls and learn fascinating details about breeding and tradition. After a picnic on site, you ride back and leave the horses there overnight. You then drive to Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer, where the afternoon is yours to enjoy – stroll through the town, walk along the beach, or relax by the pool. Dinner takes place in a restaurant in the village.

Day 6: 25 September 2026 / Les Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer – Méjanes

The morning begins with an unforgettable beach ride, followed by a picnic under a typical laupi, a traditional Camargue shelter. Afterwards, the route leads along the Étang du Vaccarès through wide plains and lagoons, where flamingos can often be seen. Your riding tour ends in Méjanes. After loading the horses, you return to Lauris, where a farewell dinner awaits you.

Day 7: 26 September 2026 / Departure

After breakfast, it’s time to say goodbye. You are transferred to Aix-en-Provence train station and begin your journey home to Luxembourg.
